Broodstock Collection of Adult Pallid Sturgeon on Monday May 18th, 2015!

On Monday May 18th crews from MTFWP, USGS and USFWS will meet at the confluence of the Yellowstone and Missouri Rivers to conduct a week-long targeted broodstock effort.  The goal of this effort is to capture wild adult pallid sturgeon that have not contributed to the upper basin propagation program.  These fish will be transported to Garrison Dam National Fish Hatchery in Riverdale, ND where they will be held until they are ready to spawn sometime in June.  After they spawn the pallids will be released back into the river where they were captured and their offspring will contribute to the recovery of this amazing species.

Volunteers are always welcome to join in the broodstock collection.
